Nov. 6 meeting Earring Projects

We'll have four earrings projects at Thursday's meeting. Two earrings projects from Artful; a aluminum rings snowman being taught by Lisa Soley and a super duo/O beads being taught by Beth Bowman.

Local Spotlight Workshops

Hey beaders! These classes have been wildly popular! Don't miss our next "Spotlight" on November 9th with Sue Carr. She will be teaching how to make your own eyepins, clasps, earwires, and much more!! Sue is a fabulous teacher and her classes are lots of fun!!

No prior wirework experience is necessary!! Sue will teach you everything you need to know!!

Local Spotlight Workshops

New Teaching Tools!!

SJBS has purchased a "Ziggi"!! Teaching can be done using this camera device which allows what the instructor is doing with her needle and thread to be projected onto a large screen for all to clearly see. And, many, many thanks to member Sue Robinson who has donated a large screen to the SJBS!

Things just keep getting better and better at the South Jersey Bead Society!!

Starting in the Fall of 2013, the SJBS Board of Directors is proud to introduce a brand new set of workshops called "Local Spotlight Workshops". These classes will be conducted by our most experienced SJBS bead artists and are open to all SJBS members. There were nine entries in this year's challenge! All are in the 'over two years' category and will be on display at Bead Binge March 16 & 17. The four winning items, selected by an independent panel of judges, were made by Sue Powell, Georgia Sullivan, Laurie Fauver, and Maggie Corchnoy. Congratulations!! Hey Beaders! We are going to publish a SJBS cookbook!! Do you have a favorite recipe?Have you designed an incredible piece of jewelry that you would like to share? What a great way to get free stuff at Bead Binge! The winners of Bead Binge Challenge are awarded Bead Binge Bucks redeemable only at Bead Binge. It's a great way to stretch your budget... but your entry is due to Deb Heller, Bead Binge Challenge coordinator, by the next program Feb. 7th!! Bead Binge is a full two weeks earlier this year than last, so you don't have 'wiggle room' on the deadline like last year.

Come on, beaders, show us your stuff and maybe win some play $$ for Bead Binge!!

Parking for SJBS at the Mt. Laurel Fire Hall

We have been asked by the Fire Chief NOT to park on the left side of the building. These spaces are needed for the firemen in case of an emergency. I have obtained permission from Origio Inc. (next to the firehouse) for us to use their lot for our meetings and workshops. Please be courteous and comply with this request.

BEAD SWAP

It's very true that "one person's trash is another person's treasure!" So, beginning at the November meeting, there will be a table designated as the "Bead Swap" table. Bring in those leftovers from a project, "accidental" duplicates, or any reason whatsoever! Trade them in for something new!

Many thanks to Ann Phillipi and Jan Ewing for all of their hard work in revising and updating our by-laws. The updated version was adopted at our September meeting by a unanimous vote.

Introducing "Up-2-Snuff" classes!!

Do you want to take a weekend workshop, but think you don't have the necessary basic skills?? Or, you feel a little "rusty" in the techniques that are going to be used in the projects??

Well, we are here to help you! Prior to all of our workshops (including the Annual Bead Retreat), we will provide "Up -2-Snuff" classes. These classes will focus on helping you learn/brush-up on the techniques that will be necessary to take the classes.

So, don't sit on the sidelines any longer! Take advantage of all that the SJBS has to offer and get Up 2 Snuff!

Our first set of classes are focused on the stitches used for the Kim Stathis workshops and the Annual Bead Retreat with Carol Cypher.
