Bead 4 Life Hands
  • Bead For Life Party! - "Eradicating Poverty One Bead at a Time." This is an opportunity to learn about the paper beads the women of Uganda make as a means of support. We even had their beads as part of our Bead Soup Challenge packages we distriubuted at our 2008 Holiday Meeting. At this "party" we will bead, socialize, and give back to a worthwhile charity. The profits from our efforts will help people to work their way out of poverty. Check out their website for more organizational information.

  • Membership Dues Collected (for January thru June) - Make sure you join or renew your membership (submit a completed form with payment) at the January meeting or online at any time. Please read the new terms of membership!

Annie Frazier
Slideshow of Annie's button projects
  • Annie Frazier - Annie Frazier has been collecting buttons for over 20 years and is the President of the National Button Society, an organization of almost 3000 members. She will present a short program about the history of buttons. After the presentation, she will demonstrate an earring project using antique or vintage buttons.

There will be a large selection of buttons available for purchase, or, if you have a pair of small (less than 1 inch buttons) you would like to use, please bring them along. Annie will provide the earring backs, earwires, and headpins for drops, or you can bring your own if you wish. Additional button jewelry will be on display to provide you with many other ideas using antique buttons as focal points for your projects.

Since she is not a bead supplier, but rather specializes in buttons, you may want to bring some of your own beads or drops to use in this project, the 4-6 mm size, although there will be some available for you there as well. Bring along your thinking caps. The possibilities are endless. If you subscribe to Bead and Button magazine, be sure to check out the August 2009 issue - it was full of button projects, and now you will have a source for purchasing these miniature works of art. Annie will also be selling buttons at Bead Binge - if you can't make the meeting, be sure to visit her at the show.
