General membership meetings are held the first Thursday of the month, September thru June, from 7 to 9 pm.

2008-2009 Meeting Summary

We had a fun-fill and informative year of beading! In case you missed any of it, want to revisit our projects, vendors and other info, it's listed below.

09/04/08 General Membership Meeting

Fan earrings project with SJBS member Linda Black. Click here for a picture, supply list, and project instruction sheet. Supply vendor for the meeting was: Artful Beads of Pennington, NJ.

10/02/08 U.F.O. (Unfinished Objects) and Show & Tell Night!

11/06/08 General Membership Meeting

Make & take earrings night with SJBS member Kathy Foster. Supply vendor for the meeting was: The Bead Cellar of Pennsauken, NJ.

12/04/08 "Members Only" Holiday Meeting

This was our annual holiday meeting that's open to current members only. (No guests or visitors, sorry.) This is a can't miss meeting for our members! Members were able to participate in the earring exchange and the Bead Soup Challenge supplies (for June) were distributed that night.

01/08/09 General Membership Meeting

Making Multi-Strand Necklaces with SJBS member Eleanor Fink. Eleanor lead a hands-on demo of this type of necklace project during the meeting. Sample of pictures, supply list, and prep instructions used.

02/05/09 Special Guest Presenter: Beads in Clay - Barbara Hanselman

Renown ceramic artist of NJ, Barbara Hanselman, did a terrific demo for the group on clay bead making and many of the members made their own beads using supplies she graciously supplied for that evening's demo. Barbara also had many of her wonderful clay beads available for sale.

03/05/09 Special Guest Presenter: Beautiful Beads - Diane Fitzgerald

Renown national bead artist and instructor from MN, Diane Fitzgerald, did a dynamic presentation on the "History of Beads". Through her humorous presentation manner Diane shared facts about several decades of the history and trends of beading and bead fashions, including many of her own interesting and unique collectables. Beaded items were on display and Diane's book, CDs and instructional kits were available for sale. Diane continued her time of bead sharing with two weekend workshops for her Oh My Stars! and Purple Majesty Necklaces.

04/02/09 Special Guest Presenter: Juniper Creek Designs

June Huber, National instructor from TX, June Huber, was our special guest presenter and she shared slides of her work and the history of how she got into beading. June sold kits and patterns for her unique beaded items and taught two weekend workshops: Deco Pendant and the Peyote Starflower.

05/07/09 Making Daily Chain

Ankle bracelets with SJBS members Sandy Kania and Kathy Foster. Picture and supply list used.

06/04/09 General Membership Meeting

Bead Soup Challenge & Elephant Trunk Sale. (The pictures of the bead soup challenge entries will be posted soon -- all the entries were wonderful.)
