Denise’s Butterfly Scissors Case
We will be making a butterfly shaped scissors case to fit the scissors as seen in the samples. If you didn’t receive a pair of these scissors as a holiday gift from the Bead Society in 2021 you will have an opportunity to buy a pair. Denise will explain the basics of how to design and create a scissors case. Using a butterfly pattern she has designed the class will cut out the butterfly and bead on it.
You are encouraged to use her pattern as a starting point and make changes or work the project as designed. This is an opportunity to bead the way you are most comfortable and to pick colors and bead shapes you love or stick with the supply list provided.
Want to add charms, rhinestone chain, pearls etc to make it your scissors case special to you? Go right ahead. Does one of the samples ring your bell? Great follow along.
This will be an opportunity for you to let your creativity out with Denise’s pattern as your safety net. The final step will be to use the edging technique to attach a second piece of fabric to create the pocket for your scissors case.
Denise has been a member of the South Jersey Bead Society since 2013. While she has experimented with many types of beading her passion is Bead Embroidery. She thinks this stems from her love of thread embroidery and other needle crafts. Before having children she was a high school art teacher in Burlington Township NJ. Denise’s desire is to pass on her love of design and to encourage her students to enjoy bead embroidery. She will encourage you to make this project your own and will be there to help you every step of the way.
